Dominic Cooper has begun shooting ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, and is enjoying the perks of working on a big-budget US movie.

Dominic Cooper only asked for a toaster and a kettle on the set of ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’.

The 32-year-old actor – who plays Howard Stark in the upcoming Marvel comic adaption – admits he likes working on big-budget US films, but still has small demands on set.

Speaking on the green and red carpet at the UK premiere of his latest movie ‘Tamara Drewe’, Dominic told BANG Showbiz: “Yes we have started filming and it’s going really well. It’s such an amazing cast. Do I get a bigger trailer? Yes. Although I only asked for a toaster. Actually, a toaster and a kettle.”

The British hunk recently confirmed he is scared of being typecast in certain roles after performing in box office-smash ‘Mamma Mia!’.

He said: “I’ve never had a plan. I just want to work with really good directors. I don’t want to be the guy from ‘Mamma Mia!’ who sings on a jet ski.”

‘Captain America: The First Avenger – which is directed by ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’ filmmaker Joe Johnston and stars Chris Evans and Hugo Weaving – is due for release in July 2011.

Dominic Cooper is now one Britain’s most in-demand actors in Hollywood. He has appeared in Mamma Mia which is the UK’s highest grossing film of all time – and in the Oscar nominated ‘An Education’.

Her Tamara Drewe co-star Dominic Cooper is unlikely to encounter such stumbling blocks when realising his ambitions.

“I’d love to do Freddie Mercury next – or Michael Hutchence. Such good fun and they are such great characters to do.”

Dominic Cooper is afraid of being typecast as ”the guy from ‘Mamma Mia!’ who sings on a jet ski.”

Dominic Cooper is worried he will only be known for singing on a jet ski in ‘Mamma Mia!’.

The ‘Tamara Drewe’ actor – who rose to fame after starring in the musical movie, where he started dating his leading lady Amanda Seyfried – admits he is desperate to work on other movie projects, so he doesn’t get typecast.

He said: “I’ve never had a plan. I just want to work with really good directors. I don’t want to be the guy from ‘Mamma Mia!’ who sings on a jet ski.”

The actor fought off stiff competition for the role in the romantic comedy movie.

‘American Pie’ star Chris Klein’s audition video became an instant hit when it was leaked onto the internet, something which Dominic admits “filled him with confidence”.

When asked if he saw it, he told Empire magazine: “I have, yes. My immediate reaction was I was upset for him. My God, if my audition for that was ever seen. OK, it’s quite amusing. It filled me with confidence!”

Cooper’s Shame Over Soccer Blunder

DOMINIC COOPER was left red-faced when he tried to fulfil his dream of becoming a star soccer player – he fluffed his chance in front of thousands of fans.

The Mamma Mia! star was taking part in Britain’s Soccer Aid event, which raises money for Unicef, and was relishing the opportunity to finally play the sport inside a packed stadium.

He was brought on as a substitute midway through the game in Manchester, England in June (10) – but humiliated himself in front of the 70,000-strong crowd by bungling his big moment.

He tells Empire magazine, “It was a painful experience. The ball was miles up in the air and everything went silent. It was like a film, and I went to volley it… and it hit my kneecap. It was pathetic. It never works like that in the films.”
