IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 14, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Karma Automotive and WayRay announced today the companies will be collaborating to integrate an innovative, new form of Augmented Reality (AR) Head-Up Display (HUD) technology in a fleet of future Karma vehicles.

The WayRay True Augmented Reality (True AR) and Deep Reality Display® technology enable the generation of virtual images at any distance and on multiple depth planes. Images are generated by projecting a red-green-blue (RGB) laser beam through a Picture Generating Unit (PGU) onto a Holographic Optical Element (HOE). The HOE is placed inside a transparent surface, commonly a car’s windscreen or side window.

California-based Karma Automotive intends to enter the Jacksonville market in March to sell its line of luxury electric vehicles whose new GSe-6 will start at almost $80,000 when it debuts in the first quarter.

The GSe-6 is the brand’s first pure battery electric vehicle.

The site is at northeast Beach Boulevard and Interstate 295.

Karma goes after fleet market with plans to electrify commercial trucks

Karma Automotive is looking to make the improbable leap from luxury cars to commercial trucks.

The California-based company announced Monday that it will offer engineering and contract-manufacturing services to fleet customers under the “Powered by Karma” banner. The plan is to offer modular electrified powertrains for a variety of applications, including buses, RVs, step vans, and box trucks, a Karma press release said.

Karma will display two such vehicles—a delivery van and a shuttle bus—Advanced Clean Tech (ACT) Expo this week in Long Beach, California, but didn’t discuss any pending orders for the vehicles.
