The 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car was one of 55 that were built to evaluate the use of turbine engines as part of an automobile powertrain and given to real-world drivers for short loans.

The thought was that a relatively simple, smooth operating engine that could run on a variety of fuels would offer a reliable and efficient alternative to piston engines, but poor emissions and fuel economy doomed it to the history books after a couple of years of testing.

Rare, Low-Mileage 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car Up For Sale

⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the 1978 Corvette featured an all-new fastback design, special 25th anniversary badging, and a special two-tone color scheme as an option.

Despite having a 25th anniversary edition, one of the rarest and most sought after Corvette of the year was the 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car Coupe.

Chevrolet made about 6,500 pace cars in all that year which amounted to one example per dealer. It is worth noting that while this car does appear to be in decent condition, it does have a rebuilt title as a result of a minor accident years ago.

Highlights of the notorious Colombian’s car collection included a 1928 Cadillac V-8 Town Sedan, just like the one owned by Al Capone, a Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman, and even a little Renault 4. However, his true passion was reserved for Porsches. A 1956 356 Speedster was said to be his favorite, and he also owned the 1978 Le Mans-winning 935, and one of just 15 911 RSRs built for the International Race of Champions in 1974.

The race saw 12 drivers from different racing disciplines drive identical 911s. Among the stars in rear-engined cars were A.J. Foyt, Richard Petty, Bobby Unser, Denis Hulme and Emmerson Fittipaldi who drove the car
