10th anniversary of EV by MEA, featuring EV charging station technology at Motor Show 2022


Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) led by Jaturong Suriyasasin, Deputy Governor commemorated the “10th Anniversary of EV by MEA” with EV charging station technology and innovation featuring at the 43rd Bangkok International Motor Show 2022 (Motor Show 2022). Together with MEA specialists, advice was provided to the public on EV Home Charger design and installation. Electricity system preferences, relevant devices, internal electricity monitor requirement, and related services were all covered. Those interested could take advantage of a special promotion at the MEA booth at the event.

MEA EV Home Charger system design and installation packages include:

Package 1 : 29,000 baht, offered with special discount to 27,000 baht for installation of EV Charger with 7.4 kW capacity, 1 Phase.

Package 2: 46,000 baht, offered with special discount to 43,000 baht for installation of EV Charger size 22 kW capacity, 3 Phase. 

Inclusions:

  1. Second main cable for EV installation
  2. Main overcurrent protection device 40A
  3. Leakage protection device 40A
  4. Grounding system 

Special privileges at the Motor Show only, included discounts and waivers of increased electricity request fees and internal electricity monitor service fees, and instant request to MEA branches in customers’ service areas. The offer is open until 3 April 2022 at EV1 booth, Smart CITY Zone, Impact Challenger, Impact Muang Thong Thani. 

“MEA, as the agency responsible for electricity distribution in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan, is prompted to continue driving energy for urban lifestyle support in compliance with Thailand Electricity Vehicle Alternative Energy Development Plan and Renewable Energy for Environment,” commented the MEA Deputy Governor. 

“On the 10th anniversary of EV by MEA, under the directive of the Ministry of Interior, the ‘Vibrant City, MEA New Charging Service’ campaign will see 100 MEA EV chargers installed in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan. This will expand convenient public access to standard and safe MEA EV charging stations.”

Online charging reservation is available via MEA EV Application. 

MEA has already installed 22 MEA EV chargers at MEA offices, Chaeng Watthana Government Complex, 7-Eleven Baan Suan Lasalle (Srinagarindra) branch and 7-Eleven Bang Khun Non Police Station branch with other locations slated for completion within this year.  

Meanwhile, MEA continues research into MEA EV Smart Charging System project. To promote research and development of EV charging stations and build business EV charging station partnerships, 50 MEA EV Chargers with 22 kW capacity will be awarded to selected candidates free of charge.  

MEA, as the government office implementing EV infrastructure and renewable energy transformation, continues to implement EV services alongside MEA EV station installations and development. A connection platform enables management of operations at smart EV stations, including charging analysis, and connects to the MEA EV application, supporting EV infrastructure and facilitating EV usage.
