Warner, colleagues urge action on skyrocketing motor vehicle fatalities

U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA) joined Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) and his Senate colleagues in sending a letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg highlighting the skyrocketing premiums of motor automobile fatalities and the will need for swift motion to reverse this craze.

In addition to Sens. Warner and Markey, the letter was also signed by Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Mazie Hirono (D-Hi), Ben Ray Luján (D-NM), Alex Padilla (D-CA), Jack Reed (D-RI), Brian Schatz (D-Hello), and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
The lawmakers asked for Secretary Buttigieg reply to the letter, especially to deliver:
- Clarification on the program to put into action the Countrywide Roadway Protection System.
- Rationalization of the Department’s use of current methods and authorities to meet or conquer deadlines for issuing vehicle security rules.
- Clarification of classes the Office has taken from other nations to reduce visitors fatalities.
