Meyers Automotive Service provides car for veteran Summey – News – Sturgis Journal – Sturgis, MI

When a Sturgis automotive service company recently had the opportunity to help a veteran in need of a car, the business rose to the occasion.

Meyers Automotive Service recently presented Stoney Summey from St. Joseph County Veterans Affairs with a 2005 Buick. The vehicle is being given to a local veteran in need of reliable transportation.

“We were able to get this great car with the help of Travis Henline, owner of Sturgis Towing,” Meyers Automotive said in an online statement. “We gave the car a thorough inspection and repaired it as needed before turning it over to Stoney.”

Meyers Automotive Service owner Barry Lindblom said Thursday it “was a great opportunity that fell into my lap.”

“This was a great opportunity to do a little good and to help one of our veterans,” Lindblom said. “Many of our veterans’ needs are not being taken care of, and we saw this as a chance to give back.”

Lindblom said his business has helped the veterans office in the past with other projects. He encourages others to reach out to veterans and associated organizations, and to help meet the needs of those who have helped to protect the country.

Meyers Automotive has served the Sturgis community since 1927.
