The Best Bike and Skate Shops in Seattle

0

Seattle Pedals so much it gets called the best cycling city in the nation—pretty impressive given our hills. Debates about e-bikes are the norm, with our shops ranging from giant to boutique, many with cafes to fuel the engine. For all your other outdoorsy needs, check out our list of best gear and clothing stores in the city.

Rad Power Bikes

Ballard

Though e-bikes are everywhere, the Ballard-based Rad can claim nationwide fans, including Prince Harry. The showroom has versions of the battery-powered vehicles to try, plus a service shop.

REI

Downtown

Though best known for its camping gear selection, the downtown flagship (and to a lesser extent, the outposts in Issaquah, Renton, Lynnwood, and Bellevue) has cycling gear and some bikes on hand. The retailer even makes its own branded bikes.

Velo Bike Shop

Belltown

A shop by name, but more like a warehouse. Nearly 50 years in business have made Velo into one of the most trusted names in bike sales and full-service repair. It’s a bastion of knowledge with a large stock of bikes and parts.

Good Weather Bicycle and Cafe

Capitol Hill

What was once a second-story bike shop above a bar now resides in Chophouse Row. To keep you in the saddle, Good Weather repairs your ride; meanwhile, dig into a smattering of sandwiches, beer, cider, and wine—you don’t always have to be on the go after all.

Métier Racing and Coffee

Capitol Hill

What other Seattle bike shop serves coffee, let alone pastries and IPAs? Métier’s mix of cyclist retail, race training, classes, and grub make it a vital community spot for serious riders.

Wright Brothers Cycle Works

Fremont

However you ride—urban commute, off-road, race—the team at Wright Brothers can put the wrench to work. The Fremont shop also acts as a co-op workshop for classes and do-it-yourself tinkering.

Evo

Fremont

Like REI, Evo is a mutisport retailer with a few specialties, including bikes and skating. Not only do they sell a lot of wheeled equipment and related clothing, their Fremont flagship has a skate park in the basement.

Montlake Bicycle Shop

Montlake

A neighborhood mainstay long before anyone was riding an e-bike, the store has embraced every form of two-wheeled transportation, from road bikes to folding contraptions. Find accessories and clothing as well, or take a class from their experts so you don’t need the bike repair shop.

Black Market Skate Shop

Greenwood

Once a landmark black-and-red mini tower on Denny Way, the store moved to Aurora in 2019 and is packed with everything you need for skating—decks, board hardware, wheels, hoodies. Grind and hill bomb your way across the city.

Gregg’s Cycle

Green Lake

With additional locations in Bellevue and Lynnwood, the selection at Gregg’s is as extensive as the service packages—new bikes automatically come with free tuneups for the first few months and options for lifetime plans.
