Starting with the F1, McLaren opened a new chapter in its otherwise solely race-oriented history. This move to make its first road legal car would prove to be one of the single greatest moments in automotive history.

Although only 106 F1s were made over the course of six years, the cars quickly became an enthusiasts favorite after breaking Jaguars record as the world’s fastest production car. Unfortunately, F1 production ended in 1998 and McLaren seemed to end its endeavor into the street car market. That is until 2009 when it unveiled its plans to recreate the McLaren dream car magic with the MP4-12C. This time designing and producing everything in house, including all of the drivetrain components.

McLaren’s 12C was just the beginning and before long the design had evolved into the 650S before developing into the 720S which is more of an all new design than an evolving continuation of the past McLaren models. It features a Monocage II chassis that offers increased stiffness with 40-lbs less weight while being more comfortable to get in and out of. A bump in power came from a larger displacement aluminum V8. The 4.0-liter engine is paired with two advanced twin scroll turbos that allow immediate and long-lasting use of more than 700-horsepower while soft sweeping body lines find creative ways of supplying the needed cool air to the engine. With near 360-degree visibility from the cockpit, the 720S’ design is both purposeful and beautiful.

Being offered at Bonhams as a part of the Supercars on Sunset collector car auction, is this 2019 McLaren 720S in special ordered MSO (McLaren Special Operations) Napier Green. On top of what the dream car is known for, blistering performance and unbeatable style, it also features many high end options and comfort features, including a vehicle lift, 360-degree parking cameras, a 12 speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, and lightweight forged wheels. With just 6,700 miles on the clock and Xpel paint protection, this McLaren is a perfect example that would fit in well with any collection.
