Top 20 Car Sales By Model In May 2022

As usual, between quarters, we don’t see all the sales results, but enough carmakers report to conclude it was a rough May for sedans and hatchbacks. May 2022 sales of cars were off roughly 45 percent from a year ago, a product of the microchip shortage as well as more people opting for SUVs.
Toyota held the top two spots on the volume list, with the Corolla edging out the Camry. With rare exception, of the top 20 cars, most were down 5% to a whopping 77% for the Honda Civic. Honda has been hard hit of late with the shortage of chips.
Here are the top 20 cars sold in May 2022 and how that compares to May 2021 from the car companies that report sales every month:
