The Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 is still a year away from reaching its 100 customers, but Murray’s team has consistently shared videos of its development. That means we’ve already heard the naturally aspirated V-12 rev up to 12,100 rpm, seen a test mule in action, and watched Murray himself take his first drive in the car with a hard limit of 3,000 rpm. As exciting as all of that was, none of it compares to footage of the car roaring around an actual racing track. The company understood this, so they sent the car to this year’s annual Goodwood Member’s Meeting for a public debut.

Dario Franchitti, a three-time Indianapolis 500 winner and long-time Gordon Murray Automotive collaborator, had the honors of taking the car around the Goodwood track for two flying laps in drying condition. Contemporary McLaren lead and follow cars leave him no room to quite gets to take the car to its limits, but the sounds and sights of the T.50 are still striking in a way no other modern hypercar can match. Between trackside commentators reviewing the car’s basics, you can hear that V-12 scream above 10,000 rpm with a sound like nothing else on the road today.
The T.50 produces 654 horsepower from a naturally-aspirated V-12 paired to a manual transmission, but it is more than just a throwback to the last days of the analog supercar. A total weight of just 2174 lb makes it one of the lightest performance cars of any sort for sale anywhere, let alone the lightest with a V-12 and centrally positioned seating for three. Add in a downforce-sustaining fan above the rear diffuser and the T.50 becomes the single most unique path to hypercar performance money can buy. All 100 examples are spoken for already.
